The strange case of Michael Hicks, the Grijalvas and Auggie Romero

A strange thing happened this week in TUSD…

At this last Tuesday’s board meeting was a vote for the renewal of contracts for all the principals. This included the renewal of Pueblo HS Principal Auggie Romero who has been beleaguered with many scandals; he was reprimanded for being physically violent at a national conference, accused of changing grades and violating state law and allowing their basketball gym to be vandalized through negligence at the cost of around $1,000,000 in damage. read more

Whistleblowers: Professor Mark Stegeman’s perserverations promotes pompous elitism with UHS

We grant our permission to publish this letter and to distribute it widely.

62nd Open Letter

From:  Whistleblowers– Comprised of a Large Group of Extremely Concerned TUSD Administrators, Teachers, Retired Administrators, and Parents, Grandparents

Subject: Pompous Elitism- University High School’s Part 2-

We have not written since October 2017. Then our letter was about University High and today and today we are back on the same topic. This time we focus on the lack of strong leadership being demonstrated by Dr. Trujillo and the unethical tirades of individual Board members as they push their tunnel-vision resolutions and policies without valid consideration of what is best for students. Three Board members have never had children attend TUSD (K. Foster, R. Sedgwick do not have children. Mark Stegeman had a child last year), yet these three individuals are the eye of the hurricane that constantly cause havoc on the Board. Adelita seems to go along with Foster, no matter her cause. Sedgwick is a Stegeman clone. Hicks is the most independent of all, and he often gets sucked right into the hurricane. It is Gabriel Trujillo we are most disappointed in right now. He has NOT shown the strong and independent leadership which is expected from a superintendent. read more

Can Border Patrol stop citizens from observing and collecting data on BP racial profiling?

About three years ago during the Spring of 2014 a group of citizens from Arivaca, just south of Tucson, began observing and collecting data on the Border Patrol checkpoint on I-19 on the way north to Tucson, AZ.

Latino drivers are 26 times more likely to be asked for identification than white drivers at the U.S. Border Patrol checkpoint on Arivaca Road west of Interstate 19, according to a group that wants the checkpoint removed.

IMG_07162-800x446Although thousands of drivers passed through the checkpoint, no arrests were made during the period when observers recorded the actions of border agents there, the group said. read more

An open letter to Tucson about complicity in White supremacy

11/18/17 – An open letter to Tucson about your complicity in white supremacy:

Steve Bannon is receiving a warm welcome today by 80-degree temperatures and an immobilized indifference by the liberal self-image of Tucsonans. While emotions are high about the ceremonalizing of fascism, bigotry and hatred in our town, very little has been done to prevent the event from occurring both within the political establishment of Tucson and the recently established white liberal groups chasing the white supremacist tiger by the tail. Bannon is receiving an award for ‘Courageous Journalism” from Border Patrol affiliated Brian Terry Foundation for right-wing news outlet’s Brietbart coverage of the corrupt and failed covert operations known as “Fast and Furious”. read more

Sessions’ DOJ suffers loss after judge rules sanctuary cities cannot have federal monies withheld

A federal judge has blocked the U.S. government from withholding a major grant because Philadelphia is a “sanctuary city.”

U.S. District Judge Michael Baylson says in his decision issued Wednesday that he weighed the public interest and possible harm that could come from the withholding of such funds.

A spokesman says the Justice Department is reviewing the ruling and determining next steps.

The city filed suit against Attorney General Jeff Sessions in August.

Raul Grijalva refuses to endorse Kyrsten Sinema for US Senate for many good reasons

Kyrsten Sinema is the most likely the best politician in all of Arizona, and this is just one reason why we here at Three Sonorans have been one of her biggest critics since 2011 when as a state senator she authored her own anti-immigration bill (SB1225) and got a bit too friendly with SB1070-author “I love Russell” Pearce.

Thus we applaud Congressman Raul Grijalva’s current stance against the former naturally red-headed Green Party member and current fake blonde Blue Dog Dixiecrat Kyrsten Sinema for US Senate, and Grijalva explains why below. read more
